To celebrate the 270th anniversary of the De Gruyter publishing house, the company is providing permanent open access to 270 selected treasures from the De Gruyter Book Archive. Titles will be made available to anyone, anywhere at any time that might be interested. The DGBA project seeks to digitize the entire backlist of titles published since 1749 to ensure that future generations have digital access to the high-quality primary sources that De Gruyter has published over the centuries.

Activities for the evaluation of the Florence University Library System have recently materialised in a customer satisfaction survey. The book recounts this experience and illustrates its premises, the phases of implementation, the statistical and library science methods. The survey represents the final stage of an itinerary launched through the reorganisation of the library system in 1994. From that year on, the practice of monitoring has been confirmed as an essential element of the management process. After several years devoted to the enhancement of quality, the users have been invited to express their views on the services apropos effective use and the degree of satisfaction.

Le collège de Sorbonne a été créé en 1257 à Paris sous les auspices des pouvoirs royaux et pontificaux. Parmi les collèges séculiers, il innove en se dotant de bâtiments et de revenus réguliers et en accentuant sa vocation intellectuelle, dont la bibliothèque est le dispositif principal. Elle renferme plus de 1 000 volumes à la fin du xiiie siècle et est organisée en deux dépôts, l'un destiné à la consultation sur place, l'autre au prêt, pour répondre aux besoins des sociétaires, des étudiants et des maîtres. Cet ouvrage s'attache à étudier les livres du collège, de leur acquisition par les maîtres jusqu'à leur entrée dans l'établissement. Il analyse leur circulation au sein des divers dépôts et leurs usages par les sorbonistes ou par des lecteurs étrangers. Il éclaire les relations du collège avec son environnement institutionnel et social, et l'influence culturelle exercée par la bibliothèque du Moyen Âge à la Renaissance. Deux instrumenta complètent cette publication : un guide codicologique sur les manuscrits du collège et une bibliographie exhaustive des travaux portant sur sa bibliothèque. Mobilisant plusieurs disciplines (histoire, littérature, sociologie et philosophie), ce livre offre les premiers jalons d'une histoire renouvelée des bibliothèques universitaires.

The volume describes experiences of the first twelve years of the Social Sciences Library of the University of Florence in its new location. We talk about management contexts, organisational structures, analysis, projects, crises and solutions affecting most of the services. Moreover, we also present an approach and a working method. Our need to write stemmed from the impression of having accomplished a phase of our work and of being called to take stock of the situation, giving account of the work done and critically analysing it, in order to be ready to face the new challenges that the future would present, starting from today.
